It's Been Awhile
I just realized that I haven't posted ANYTHING since January. There's a good reason for that. The Prides have been busy with the all consuming vintage camper rehab project!
We went from this on the outside.......................
To this vision in turquoise................Isn't her awning just the sweetest?
And this was the view as you walked into the camper, on the day that Lola was "adopted"--July 3, 2013. This is a direct view into the closet and to the right is the bathroom.
This is the view into Lola on the day of her first camping trip, May 23rd 2014, to Cornerstone Campgrounds in New Castle, Indiana.
We just returned a few weeks ago, from camping with Lola in South Haven, Michigan. Her second trip out with the Prides. It was a bit rainy, but a fun week just the same. We went with the Goodmans and all the kids had a grand time at the Jellystone Resort.
Yogi Bear was a hit.
As was mining for gems...................
Katie enjoyed it, almost as much as me.
Here is Aunt Amy showing off some of the treasure.
The kids all loved the beach in South Haven. But on more than one occasion, the fog rolled in. During the afternoon! And then a few minutes later, poof. It would be gone.
And it would be back to blue skies. Very strange weather patterns.
Katie found a nest of killdeer eggs. Not surprisingly, she spent much of vacation checking up on them and watching the Mommy bird limp away from the nest pretending to be hurt. Interesting behavior.
We all enjoyed hanging out at this bar........................Yum!
Right, Evan?
Tony and Paul were keen to drive the go karts. Katie was NOT impressed with a group of older kids who thought that go karts was the same thing as bumper cars.
On our way home, the Prides stopped at Van Buren State Park to visit the dunes. Katie had a grand time piling up a stash of rocks to take home with her. Reminded me of the time that Paul and I visited a park in New Brunswick and he ended up taking rocks home with him. Unfortunately, I neglected to tell him and it was discovered during his trip through airport security. Oops. Anyway, it would seem that Katie the apple did not fall far from the tree.
During our week of camping, we played lots of games in the evening. One of those was a game called "Spoons", which earned Uncle Tony the nickname of Spoon Bully by Katie. Seems that he has no problem using his brute strength to yank spoons from the hands of small children. There was much wailing and yes, even tears, from the under 10 set.
Bye Yogi! Hope to see you again soon!!
