This little guy with the heart shaped nose was a stitch to watch. Always active.
The baby gorilla was ADORABLE and we spent a great deal of time watching the baby and it's Mom.
I was amazed at how human the interactions were between them. During this series of photos, I observed the Mom stroking the baby's hair as if to comfort. So sweet.
The bears seemed surprisingly chipper, despite the approach of winter. Though he mostly lounged in the sun as if to store up the last rays of summer sunshine.
And of course, there was the King of the Jungle. He roared while we were there. Amazing! So loud. We had just walked away, and you could hear him throughout the zoo.
And speaking of cool cats, here is a Pride of Prides. Current and Former, or at least 2/3's of them qualify for this title. And I suspect that Eric is an honorary member of the Pride "Pride", anyway.
Despite that there are many large animals at the zoo, I'm always drawn to the littlest ones. Meerkats are a perennial favorite of mine. So adorable. Look at their sweet little pink noses. What's not to love?
Katie really liked the baby snow leopards. I have to admit, they were cute as could be.
And one of the special exhibits were the red pandas. Unfortunately for us, they were behind fencing and lounging. Not much activity out of them on Saturday.
But what the red pandas lacked in activity, the parakeets more than made up for that day. Admittedly, it was a bit alarming when they would all fly at the same time. It was a giant cloud of bright colors.
But Katie managed to spend some one on one time with a few of the parakeets. So many brightly colored ones, and yet, Katie managed to find an all white one in the crowd. I had no idea that they came in colors other than yellow, blue and green.
That's all, folks!
