The weather was on the cool side for May, but............Troop 1524 and other troops from the Carmel East Service unit persevered with their outdoor activities. See how everyone is bundled up?
My girls really enjoyed their weekend. Here they are problem solving on the team building course. The official Troop 1524 members participating in the Camporee are pictured below.
Next year, Troop 1524 will be acquiring part of another troop, also 3rd graders at Forest Dale. The camporee was a good opportunity for the girls to interact and work together before officially being a Junior troop of 4th graders next fall. Katie, ever the class clown. Or in this case, the Troop Clown.
A big part of every camporee for my girls (and I suspect ALL of the girls) is the Creek Stomp. The older girls (predominantly high schoolers from Carmel High School) are VERY gracious with their time and attention, and willingness to take the younger girls through the creek. My girls adore the older Girl Scouts. Here is the line up of the older girls during the Camporee Kick Off.

And of course, some photos from the highlight of the weekend--the CREEK STOMP!!!!!!!!!
Rosemary taking a break to sun herself.
Katie and Rebekah heading back to the creek for more water fun.
Nothing is more fun than a girl sized waterfall................
Could they get any more drenched?
Katie sloshing around in her Mama's boots.
Rosemary decides to go all in..................
Katie follows the creek for a bit.
Rebekah is completely drenched, but HAPPY!
Part of the Camporee is of course, the team building course, Ada Goonie. When not team building, my girls were each working on their own skills and special techniques. Sometimes, unrecognized by them. For example, it appears that Katie balances herself best on the log walk when holding her hair out for balance.
Rebekah was really fabulous at balancing the giant board, even with the other girls wiggling around. She decided later that the rope portion was not her favorite. She did give it a few more tries before moving on to balancing on the log and finally back to the teeter totter board balance. I'm proud of my girls for trying everything at least once and retrying even when they don't feel that it is their gig.
Rosemary offered up to the other girls that the secret of balancing oneself on the log is to curl your toes inside your shoes while walking across.
Katie gets assistance from Leilani, one of her classmates at Forest Dale who will merge with our troop next fall.
Here is camper Paul, one of our proud "Do Dads", as they are called in the Girl Scouts. Kudos to our two Dads who helped to make it a fun camping experience for the girls. And kudos to Rebekah's Mom, Mary Ann, for helping me wrangle the girls. I see now where Rebekah gets her sweet nature.
Until next year..................Peace Out!!!!!!!!!
