Big Cedar Lodge

This summer our family visited some place new for vacation.  Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri.  It's an old hotel/resort/hunting lodge, and is on the National Register of Historic Hotels.  My brother and his family have vacationed here on multiple occasions and have enjoyed each trip.

The locaton is remote, yet close enough for a day trip into Branson for dinner or entertainment.  Plenty of places for photo ops, too.  Beautiful bridges everywhere with rambling creeks and even waterfalls.

The buildings are all decorated with a decidedly hunting lodge feel to them.  I loved the view from this porch at registration.

The kids swam every day and multiple times each day.  It was difficult to keep them covered with sunscreen.

Katie enjoyed her time with her cousins, as you can see.

Tony hamming it up.

The kids all participated in a fishing competition one morning.  Katie and Evan had no luck at all.  In fact, only 3 fish were caught the entire morning.  Two of the fish were caught by Zachary.

Nothing that day for Evan.

Ditto for Katie.

But they looked good fishing.

Don't they look happy just being together?

We saw lots of wildlife at the resort.  Most evenings we were visited by a trio of skunks.  Scary.....This is the only image of the birds that I was able to capture.  They are just too fast for me.  Very peaceful to watch.

The evening view across the lake.  From near the shuffleboard courts, if I remember correctly.

A sampling of the architecture around the resort.

The kids enjoying their smores on their last evening, while wearing their tie dye "Having Smore Fun at Big Cedar Lodge" matching shirts.  Too cute.

A lovely sunset on our last evening.  Good memories.................
